Write For Youth is an international essay-writing competition organised by pre-tertiary students across various educational institutions based in Singapore.
The spirit of the competition is to bring to life curiosity and critical thinking in youths of today and to examine their environment and the contemporary world, in the hopes of effecting and enacting change.
This year’s edition includes prompts set by industry professionals and academics, ranging from History & Politics to Business & Economics.

The Write For Youth International Essay Competition 2024 is now live! Find out more about this year’s theme ‘Shaping Tomorrow’ and make sure to register by 15 June. Submissions will close on 30 June, 2359 SGT. All submitted entries must adhere to the submission guidelines to be considered for evaluation.

The competition is open to all international entrants. While submission deadlines may differ based on time zone differences, submission criteria, process, and evaluation will be standardized for all entrants. In the event that you have won an award presented at the award ceremony in Singapore, you will receive your certificate and award by mail.

In our blind judging process, all entries will pass under the review of two judges in an anonymous manner, whereby authors’ names will not be made available to judges to ensure complete and utmost impartiality.

All participants may submit entries for more than one topic. However, you are limited to one submission per topic. If double submissions are made for the same topic, the second submission will be automatically invalidated.

The registration deadline is the date by which you must confirm your participation in the competition. You will only be asked for your particulars and some fundamental information. The submission deadline is the date by which you must then submit your completed essay.

No, there is no fee required to submit an entry. Participation for the Write For Youth International Essay Competition is free-of-charge.

Upon request, individualised feedback consolidated by the relevant adjudicators will be provided to all entrants.
